Frequently Asked Questions
Posted on Nov 10, 2010
★ Do I need to come with a partner?
No.
You will learn how to lead or follow, which will allow you to dance with any partner! Our lessons are based on the "partner rotation": you will be changing dance partners as a lesson progresses. However, feel free to bring all of your friends!
★ What should I wear to the lessons?
Wear whatever you are comfortable dancing in.
This usually means casual dress code. Please make sure you wear non-marking shoes, and have indoor shoes for the winter months. Shoes in which you can slide well will be more comfortable for dancing, but not essential.
★ I have never danced before. Do I need any experience?
No.
Our beginner class is designed for people just like you! In fact, most of our dancers, including the instructors, had no experience when they joined the society!
★ Which class is right for me?
The complete description of our classes can be found
here
. Our beginner class is designed for people with no experience. The Beyond Basics class is the following level, and the intermediate class is the highest level of instruction we offer. If you have dance experience but have never swing danced before, I recommend doing both beginner and Beyond Basics classes.
